Bhoplyache Gharge(Sweet Pumpkin Puri)

Bhoplyache gharge is a traditional Maharashtrian snack recipe made using grated red pumpkin and jaggery with wheat flour. These are mildly sweet puris with the goodness of red pumpkin. They make nutritious yummy snack on their own but can be served with pickle or potato bhaaji if desired.




Ingredients


2 cups grated red pumpkin

1 cup chopped jaggery

1- 1/2 cup wheat flour

1 tbsp rice flour

2 tsp rava

Pinch of salt

1/2 tsp cardamom powder (optional)

Oil to fry


Method


Grate red pumpkin after removing the skin. Heat a pan and cook the grated pumpkin on low flame. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes.The pumpkin will leave its moisture and get cooked. Now mix jaggery and boil it for 5 minutes. Now keep it aside and allow it to cool.


Once the mixture is cooled, add wheat flour, salt, rava and start kneading. Usually water will not be needed as the mixture has enough moisture. If required few drops of water can be added. The quantity of wheat flour can be adjusted so as it form firm dough. Cover and rest it for 10 minutes.


Take puri size portions and start rolling into puris. These puris should not be very thick. Deep fry the puris in hot oil. Bhoplyache gharge are ready to be served. Serve hot.
