Halwa or Black pomfret is a very popular fish among the seafood lovers. Halwa is a delicious in taste and loaded with omega 3 fatty acids and excellent source of proteins. Any fish tastes its best when it is fresh. The taste depends on the freshness and when it is not overpowered with too many spices. Got this halwa after almost 3 months since the loackdown period. Sharing this simple recipe of halwyacha kalvan made in CKP style which is spicy and tangy in taste.
Ingredients
7-8 pieces of halwa
3-4 green chillies
5-6 garlic cloves
Coriander leaves
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilly powder
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 tbsp tamarind paste
Salt to taste
Method
Make a paste (green masala ) with garlic, green chillies & coriander leaves & keep aside. Clean the halwa pieces & marinate it with turmeric, red chilly ,green masala & salt. Apply tamarind paste to it. Let it rest for an hour.
Heat oil in a pan.When the oil is sufficient hot add 2-3 crushed garlic cloves to it till it turns golden in color. Now add the marinated halwa & toss it lightly. Let is cook for 5 mins.Then add some water to it.
Now add coconut milk to this.Alternatively coconut paste can be used. Check salt. Let it simmer for 6-7 mins. Halwa curry is done. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Can be served with chapati, bhakri or steamed rice.
