Moogacha Pandhara Birde( Moong in white curry)

Moogacha Pandhara Birde is prepared during Monday of Shrawan month in CKP households. Peeling the skin of moong is a tedious job but taste is worth the effort. This dish is prepared with minimal spices yet it tastes delicious. Let me share the recipe.




Ingredients

1 cup sprouted & peeled moog

1 small onion(optional)

1/2 cup grated coconut

3 green chilies

1/2 cumin seeds

1/2 inch ginger

1tsp pepper powder

Pinch of hing

Salt to taste

1tbsp oil


Method

Soak moong for 8 hours. Now remove from water and allow it to sprout for 10 hours.


When it sprouts peel the skin. Now cook them with some water for 8-10 minutes till they are soft.


Heat oil in pan. Add pinch of hing then add onions. Saute the onions cover and cook for 5 minutes. Now add cooked moong sprouts.


Grind coconut, ginger, cumin and green chilies and make fine paste. Mix with moong. Adjust salt. Add pepper powder.


Simmer for 2 minutes. Moogacha Pandhara birde is ready
