Rava Idli is usually make only with rava. Here I have used urad dal & rava both. This combination also gives soft fluffy idlis
Ingredients
For Idli
3 cups Idli Rava
1 cup urad dal
Salt to taste
For Chutney
2 cup grated coconut
2-3 green chilies
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste
1/2 juice of lemon
1 garlic flake (optional)
To temper
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
A pinch of hing
5-6 curry leaves
Procedure
Soak Urad dal & rava separately for 4-5 hrs. Then grind them in the mixer separately. The rava should feel smooth after grinding. Mix together & keep in warm place to ferment for 10-12 hrs.
Grease the idli moulds with oil. Pour the batter into each mould. Steam it in cooker without whistle / steamer for 20 mins .Demould it when it cools down.
Grind coconut, coriander, chilies, salt, sugar, lime into mixer. Add water if required .Now temper it with mustard seeds, hing & curry leaves.Chutney is ready.
Serve idlis with coconut chutney. It makes excellent breakfast menu .
