Tilachya Vadya (Sesame Cakes)

Tilachya vadya is a simple recipe with sesame seeds made for the festival of Sankranti. These sesame seeds are power house of iron, calcium and gives warmth during the winter season. This is simple recipe which is favorite with everyone.


1 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup peanuts

1/4 cup dry coconut

1 1/4 cup jaggery (regular)

1 tsp ghee

1/2 tsp cardamom powder


Roast sesame, peanuts & dry coconut separately.

Grind peanuts, til & dry coconut in grinder coarsely. Now mix it to roasted sesame seeds. Add cardamom powder to it.

Heat a pan. Put ghee in pan. Now add jaggery & mix it only till it melts. Put the dry mixture to this. Mix well till it leaves the sides of pan and comes together like a ball

Grease a plate with ghee & transfer this mixture on it. Pat it slightly. Cut it to desired shape when hot. Allow it to cool. Now separate the vadis .

Tilachya vadya are ready.
