Chilly Prawns

Chilly Prawns is chinese recipe which would suit Indian palate. Our favorite restaurant here in Singapore has been closed for renovation. So I decided to make chilly prawns at home. It turned out to be exactly the restaurant taste !!

Ingredients

15 Medium size prawns

1 Onions cut in blocks

1 Capsicum cut in blocks

1 tsp chopped ginger

1tsp chopped garlic

2-3 Slit green chilies

1/2 tsp Pepper powder

2 tsp Soy Sauce

2 tsp Chilly Sauce

1 tbsp Oyster Sauce(optional)

1tbsp Corn Flour

3 tbsp oil

Salt to taste

Spring onions for garnish

Procedure

Clean & devein the prawns. Marinate with salt & pepper & keep aside for 20 minutes. Sprinkle corn flour on it & quick fry them on high flame for 2-3 minutes. Take it out of pan & keep aside.

In the same oil, put chopped ginger, garlic & green chilies. Saute it for a while.

Then thrown in onions & capsicum & saute it. Add soy sauce, chilly sauce & oyster sauce & mix well. Add salt as per taste.

Keep in mind that all the sauces have high salt in them. Remember to cook on high flame. Use of non stick wok/pan is recommended.

Then mix the sauteed prawns. Dont overcook the prawns. Else they wil turn rubbery.

Add 1/2 cup water & let it boil for a minute. Make a thin paste with corn flour & mix it in. This will glaze to the dish just like restaurant. Turn off the heat. Garnish with greens of spring onions.

Chilly Prawns is ready to be served. Tastes best with fried rice, steamed rice or noodles !!
