Lazeez Chicken is made with boneless chicken in rich gravy. Took inspiration from Chef Sanjeev Kapoor for this recipe with some variation of my own. It is a superb combination of chicken in medium spicy gravy. It gives the perfect restaurant taste.
350 gms boneless chicken
For Marination 1tsp Kashmiri Red chilly powder 1 tbsp lime juice 1/2 cup strained thick yogurt 1 tsp Red chilly powder 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste Pinch of garam masala powder Pinch of ajwain seeds 1/2 tsp black salt 2 tsp besan flour Salt to taste For Gravy 4 red tomatoes 2 chopped onions 8 chopped garlic flakes 1/2 inch chopped ginger 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi powder 1/4 tsp tumeric powder 1 tsp chilly powder 1 tsp coriander 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder 1 tbsp honey 100 ml fresh cream 3 tbsp oil For Garnish 1 cubbed onion 1 cubed tomato 1 cubed capsicum
Cut chicken into small bite size pieces & marinate with the ingredients under the heading marination. Keep for 2 hrs in the refrigerator.
Roughly chop tomatoes. Saute the tomatoes on a little oil. When the tomatoes become soft & pulpy, let it cool. Blend it in the mixture to a fine smooth tomato puree. Now heat oil in a pan. Then add cumin seeds & saute. Then add the chopped onions & mix till the onions become transparent. Then add chopped ginger garlic & saute for 2 minutes. Now mix the tomato puree into it. Add turmeric , chilly powder, coriander powder , cardamom powder & mix well.Adjust the salt as per taste. Add a bit of water & cover & cook for 5-7 minutes. In another pan drizzle a bit of oil & cook the marinated chicken pieces. The chicken can also be roasted in oven. Do not overcook it as the moisture will be lost. Mix the chicken pieces to the gravy. Be sure that the gravy is ready before the pieces are added. Now add fresh cream & honey to it. In a pan just stir fry cubbed capsicum, onion blocks & tomatoes for a minute. Garnish the gravy with these. It gives fresh & contrasting colour to the gravy. Restaurant style Lazeez Chicken is ready.
