Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red Velvet Cupcakes are bright red in colour with a mild flavour of chocolate & frosted with cream cheese. It tastes yummiest & perfect dessert for Valentine Day.


3/4 + 1/8 the cup all purpose flour

1/8th tsp Baking Powder

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 egg

1/2 tbsp Cocoa powder

1/8th cup unsalted butter

1 tsp Vanilla essence

1/2 tbsp Liquid Red colour

1/4 cup butter milk

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1/4 tsp Distilled Vinegar


1/2 cup cream cheese

100 ml heavy whipping cream

4 tbsp Icing sugar

1/2 tsp Vanilla essence


Sift flour, Baking powder, cocoa powder, Salt & keep aside.

Mix red colour with butter milk & keep aside. Preheat oven for 10 minutes.

Now cream butter & sugar till it becomes light. Then whisk an egg & beat on high speed. Add Vanilla essence to it.

Now add flour mixture & butter milk alternatively to make smooth batter.

Take distilled vinegar in a bowl & mix baking soda to it. Stir it & quickly mix with the ready cake batter.

Spoon the mixture into cupcakes & bake at 170 degrees celcius for 15 minutes. Time may vary oven to oven.

For Frosting

Whip the whipping cream till soft peaks & keep aside. In another bowl whip the cream cheese till it becomes light. 

Add the icing sugar & vanilla essence to it. Now combine cream cheese & whipping cream & whip till stiff peaks. Do not over whip.

Fill in the pipping bags & frost them in swirls.

Red velvet cupcakes are ready.
